Due Thursday: copy  and study for Friday's test

Due Friday: copy

Students take a pre-test the first day of every week and I send it home with them that day.  They should be using the pre-test as a study guide for the week.  Please ask them to see their pre-test.  Look for spelling pattern mistakes to make them more efficient at studying. For example you may notice that your child always misses words with an “I before e” pattern, or words with double consonant patterns.  It is better to learn spelling rules and patterns then to just memorize words, though some words are just memorization.  Also look for the pattern that the book and the packet focuses on.

Reading Log:  Students reading logs are due every Friday morning.  The students are to read an average of 120-150 minutes per week.  They then start a new log Friday after school.

The first few days of school have gone well. It has been fun to get to know the class.  Please remember to send $8 for the math template and the school planner. Please send the money in an envelope with your child's name on it.

Homework: Homework will start the week of August 24.  Homework is typically due the next day. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  E-mail is the best or leave a note in my box in the office.  I prefer not to get phone calls in the middle of class because if disrupts instruction.
