Students take a pre-test the first day of every week and I send it home with them that day.  They should be using the pre-test as a study guide for the week.  Please ask them to see their pre-test.  Look for spelling pattern mistakes to make them more efficient at studying. For example you may notice that your child always misses words with an “I before e” pattern, or words with double consonant patterns.  It is better to learn spelling rules and patterns then to just memorize words, though some words are just memorization.  Also look for the pattern that the book and the packet focuses on.

Reading Log:  Students reading logs are due every Friday morning.  The students are to read an average of 120-150 minutes per week.  They then start a new log Friday after school.

• No School Friday because teachers will be grading the benchmark tests
• Please check your child’s backpack on Thursdays for school papers and information.
• Calling all Volunteers: I am looking for some parents, grandparents, aunts uncles etc to help some students with math facts and reading around 3:10 -3:30 a couple days a week. Details will be worked out with individual volunteers.  This would be a great way to get some kids small group intense instruction.
