    Spelling: No spelling test this week 

    Due Tuesday: copy about prepositions 

    Due Wednesday: copy about poetry 

    Due Thursday: copy

    Due Friday: copy

     

    Reading Log: Due after the break

    The students should be recording their reading in their planners.  Parents and Guardians please initial or sign their planners. The students need to be reading an average of 150 minutes a week.  I check their logs on Monday so they have the weekend to make up any time missed during the week.

    Week of December 8, 2008

    Donations please:  Large and small metal coffee cans, two liter soda bottles, square kleenex boxes. 
     
    Hamilton IPM applications need to be postmarked by December 12. 
     
    Late start day is Friday December 12
        School hours are from 12:00-3:45 
        The 5th graders will eat at 1:00-1:20
    (There will be another late start day in February) 
     
    • We are currently working on a poetry unit in reading and writing.  Ask your child about the poems that they have been writing in class.
    • In science we have been looking at how heat effects different solids and liquids. We have also been working on graphing our data.
    • In math we are learning about fractions, decimals and percents.
     
    Homework for week of December 8:

    Due Monday: SL 5.9
    Due Tuesday: SL 5.10
    Due Wednesday: Copy or SL 5.11
    Due Thursday: Copy
    Due Friday: Probably no homework due to late start and test

    Week of December 1, 2008

    • Benchmark testing is this week Dec 1-5
     
    • Hamiltion IPM program applications are due to Hamilton Dec 12.  If you would like me to fill one out for your child I need the forms by December 8 next Monday, so that I can have it postmarked by December 12. Go to the link below to download the application and instructions.  The parent fills out a part and I fill out  the other.
